Recently, I noticed my mom was getting into traditional Chinese health exercises, specifically Ba
Duan Jin (Eight Pieces of Brocade). She'd watch videos on her phone, squinting at the small screen,
trying to follow along with movements that looked nothing like what she was doing (´・ω・`). She
wanted to track her daily practice but kept forgetting which days she'd exercised. It broke my heart
watching her struggle with something that should bring her joy and health.
That's when I
thought: "What if I could build something just for her?" (。◕‿◕。)
So I learned to code. From
scratch. Just to solve this one problem.
With the help of AI , JIN was born – my very first
app(MLP,NOT MVP!) , and honestly, probably my most meaningful project ever ヽ( ̄▽ ̄)ノ. I designed every
pixel with my mom in mind: large, clear animations showing each of the 8 traditional movements, a
simple daily check-in system she could actually use, and even a cute little growing tree that
celebrates her consistency (because who doesn't love watching something grow?(˘▽˘)~
But
here's the thing – once I showed it to her friends at the community center, they all wanted it too
(´∀`). Turns out, there are a lot of people who want to practice Ba Duan Jin properly but struggle
with complicated apps and tiny video tutorials.
